About us

Discalced Carmelite Nuns are dedicated in a special way to the Blessed Virgin Mary and are called to give witness in the Church to a life of unceasing prayer.

Prayer is the first priority in the life of a Carmelite community and in the personal commitment of every Nun.  Prayer and contemplation are not confined to participating in prayer at stated times but permeate the entire existence of a Carmelite.

Our Work

“In imitation of Christ we submit gladly to the common law of work and share the condition of the poor by working to earn the necessities of life.” (Constitutions)

Our online gift shop has been established to assist us in providing the funds necessary to provide for the repair and upkeep of the Chapel and monastery buildings.

The making of Altar Breads has been a key work for the Sisters of our monastery since its earliest days and helps to provide the Sisters with daily necessities.

Altar Breads

“Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you:

fruit of the earth and work of human hands,

it will become for us the bread of life”.
