Local Traditional Altar Breads
Our Altar Breads are made from locally grown and milled wheat and are made by hand.
They are available in wholemeal as well as white flour.
We continue the tradition of baking our breads on flat irons
and they frequently show the markings produced when dough is poured onto a hot iron.
This is not a defect but a characteristic of authentic flat breads.
The large flat breads are then cut into smaller sizes as required thus preserving the symbolism of receiving a host cut from a common loaf.
